Production(Final)

Today, as I mentioned previously, I worked on refining several sound elements and added layers of background noise with attention to detailed adjustments. I began by watching the rough cut all the way through, checking for any issues in the video, and determining where the sound should fade out. Through this self-feedback process, I continued editing accordingly.

There weren’t any major issues, but there was a slight cut in the middle of the footage, which I edited out. This led to a minor timing shift, so I adjusted the sync to fix the resulting discrepancies. Using Ableton Live, I generated a subtle background noise that was synchronized to the length of the video. This noise serves multiple purposes: it provides a sense of continuity even when the visuals cut abruptly, and it masks incidental noise caused by other elements like footsteps. I also extended the noise slightly beyond the actual video duration to accommodate transitions and credits.

For the transitions, the piece begins with the title placed at the center of the screen, allowing viewers to get an initial sense of the tone of the work. At the end, I included the name of the main producer followed by the names of those who assisted with the performance, finishing once more with the title — this time positioned in the lower right corner to subtly remind the audience of the work’s identity and closure.

I also adjusted the fade-out of the footstep sounds to match the visuals. The fade-out begins when one person starts exiting the frame, and by the time both have disappeared, the footsteps have nearly faded out completely. I applied only a very slight fade-in at the beginning, as anything more pronounced felt unnatural.

With this, the video editing is now complete. I plan to upload it to YouTube and, as promised, share the link with the performers who took part. In the next piece of writing, I will reflect on the project through a self-evaluation.
