My theme of CSP assignment is using materials of Korea traditional instruments : Iron, stone, thread, soil, bamboo, gourd, leather, wood. Therefore I will record every material and today’s thing is bamboo.

A bamboo has hard surface and unfilled inside, which are main characteristics. Since the features, bamboo was used as woodwinds, such as Piri or Daegeum, at Korean traditional era. Nevertheless, I thought that bamboo can be made interesting sounds even if I do not make it as woodwinds.

I bought several bamboo sticks and tried banging them against each other, fitting hollow sections together to create a distinctive resonant sound, and recording the sound of breaking the bamboo to rub against the cracks.
