The material of this recording is soil. Rather than being used to create sound in itself, soil is made into mud and then fired into pottery shapes: Examples of instruments used are the Bu, a percussion instrument, and the Hun, a wind instrument.

I decided to make sounds with the clay itself, and went out to the river in front of my house to record.

As it was an outdoor recording, there were unwanted sounds such as people, aeroplanes, and wind, so I recorded for a long time and extracted the sound by selecting the noise-free part as much as possible.
