The material we will be recording is leather. Leather was used as a part of traditional Korean percussion instruments, usually thinly pinned leather bonded to hollowed-out wood to create a soft resonance: Janggu or Buk, for example.

My initial plan was to use the elasticity of the leather to record the sound of striking the leather hard, or the sound of pulling the leather taut and suddenly, and this was successful. However, I was disappointed that I was not able to record the percussive sound like the actual traditional instrument, so I cut an empty coke bottle to create the resonance and attached it to the mouth of the bottle with thread. I would have preferred to use wood, but I could not because of technical problems

Process to make percussion with leather and coke bottle
At first, I tried using a small coke bottle, but it didn’t sound loud enough and didn’t resonate well. Regarding this, it was determined that the entrance was too small, causing an insufficient amount of air to be vibrated from the leather. Therefore, it was remade using a larger coke bottle, which produced the desired sound well.
